She made sure to inform the staff that I tend to move quickly and got them going, even though they doubted her. I couldn't have done it without her and if I were to get pregnant again, I would still use her services. I think it makes the whole experience easier when there is someone in the room who knows what supposed to happen. I know I was too busy to notice what was or wasn't going on around me and my husband was focused on me, so he wasn't paying attention either. It was so nice to just be able to focus on what I needed to do and not have to worry about the rest of it. She is also a very calming presence during the pushing phase, she just has a way of making it easier to deal with the pain and to get it done. Don't get me wrong, my husband was a big help too, but there is just something so irritating about the person who got you in that situation telling you to relax and breathe. Having Christy there afforded him the freedom to just be there and not talk, or get hurt for talking." I never had to worry about whether Dave would feel uncomfortable or helpless because you were there coaching the both of us the entire time. You reminded me to breath and concentrate on my body. You reminded Dave that his role would be extremely important. I would have to say that your encouragement was the greatest asset for me to complete my birth medication-free. When I thought I was too tired to handle to intensity of the experience, you gently reminded me of what I really wanted and the goal at the end of all the pain: my little girl. You told me I could keep going when the labor felt too hard and you taught me how my body could work for me to bring my daughter into the world.
